About

Doesn't it seem as though the phrase 'reduce, re-use, recycle' has always been with us? Yet not so long ago we didn't have a concept for handling household waste in a sustainable, environmentally-friendly way. Recycling began with a few individuals, then grew to include families, schools, churches, businesses, and finally cities, states, and countries.

Now everyone recycles because we understand how important it is and we've learned how to do it. You might say we take recycling for granted!

The same is true for first saving and then protecting European honey bees from an overwhelming amount of environmental toxicity. First we have to understand the problem: our domestic honey bees are threatened with extinction by 2035. That's a mere 20 years from now -- give or take a couple of years.

This possible outcome for our global food system is unacceptable. So now  that we know the why, it's time to learn the how of saving our honey bees. Youth will be part of making the collective choices required to restore healthy habitat for honey bees and all of our essential pollinators.

Remember When We Didn't Know How To Recycle?

Creator, designer and publisher of Visualize World Bees: the Game of Environmental Transformation, Anaiis Salles, is a beekeeper, urban farmer, foodie, former Montessori teacher and a grandmother who wants her grand-children and children everywhere to enjoy an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables well into the future.

One goal of her educational board game is to eliminate unfounded fears about honey bees. Another goal is making sure we all know the vital role honey bees play in the realm of food security and world peace. The work honey bees do is miraculous and their work goes largely unnoticed by us, but we can't afford to take the future of honey bees for granted.
